A large healthcare network consists of one hospital, three physician offices, and several outpatient clinics and specialty locations. The network implemented an EHR in its hospital and physician offices. The next phase is to integrate the outpatient clinics and specialty locations.

What are some of the roadblocks that may be encountered with this phase of the implementation that may not have been encountered previously? What is the role of interoperability and its importance in this case? Illustrate with an example.
