The dramatic advances in medicine around the turn of the century transformed the hospital into the key resource and organization hub of the American health care system.

Hospitals became central to the delivery of patient care, the training of health personnel, and the conduct and dissemination of health care research.

Hospitals, and more recently, health systems management has grown in importance as hospitals have grown in size and sophistication and combined into multi-hospital systems. The job of implementing board policy and the responsibility for day-to-day operations is delegated by the board to the hospital administrator. The hospital administrator has direct responsibility for the management team, the finances of the institution, facilities, equipment, planning and implementing new services, hiring and supervising personnel.

One of the most important tasks is to keep communication flow between the various management teams (board, medical administration, and staff, hospital departments).

For the final section of your PowerPoint to the Board of Directors, complete the following in 7 slides:

1. Identify how current political and economic developments impact healthcare.
2. Explain how socio-cultural factors play a role in providing healthcare within the hospital.
3. Explain the impact of the Hospital’s Ethical Committee and its duties.
4. Identify the impact of technological advancements within the organization.

Dedicate one slide to complete a PEST analysis using the below grid (PEST was created by Francis J. Aguilar who discusses a mnemonic for the four sectors of his taxonomy of the environment: Political, Economic, Socio-cultural, and Technical). In each box, identify at least 3-4 impacting factors.

Support your thoughts with 2-3 scholarly references.

Combine the slides from your previous SLPs, including this final set, and create one list with all your reference slides.

At this point, your PowerPoint should be 24-30 slides, not including your title or reference slides. You should have 8-11 references.
