Skim through the Anderson text and find a couple of short stories that capture your attention. Read them slowly. You don’t have to write about them or post about them, but you do have to savor them. Read like a writer. As you savor, pay attention to the way that the writer puts it all together — not just the story/plot, but the scenes, sentences, descriptions, ideas. Look at how it all fits together.
Then, read another. Do the same thing. This is a luxury, not a chore!
Write up a brief reflection of one of the stories — identify the story, and explain what you learned from it as a writer. Not as a student of literature, but as a creative writer.
